  1. Match Your Profile to the Requirements of the Job

Take a few moments to assess your skill level. Does it match the responsibilities of the job position? Will you be able to use your expertise to meet the demands of the job? Do a Google Search for the new job title. Look out for any aspects of this position that you may not know about. Make sure you understand what you will be asked when you face the interview panel and what you will need to present to not only meet but exceed the recruiter’s expectations.

  1. Align Your Resume With the Job Description

The main point here is to arrange your resume so that the most relevant information that satisfies the requirements of the job will be seen quickly by the person reviewing it. But you must remain truthful and not try to falsify information to impress your potential employer. Unfortunately, most hiring managers are swarmed with hundreds or thousands of resumes and they may not spend more than 10 seconds skimming through yours. That’s why it’s so important to make a good first impression.

Remember that your resume is just about the only tool you have to get your interview. You must focus on getting it moved from the huge stack of submitted resumes to the list of potential candidates for the interview.   1. Research the Hiring Manager

To get noticed, you can take extra steps to ensure that your resume gets into the inbox of the hiring manager. In addition to the general email address, you should do your best to find out who the hiring manager is. Then you can search for their work email address.  Use a number of name and initial combinations to look for the name on Google. Search for the name of the person on LinkedIn. Use the email address you find as the primary email address while the generic job application address can be the secondary one.

  1. Send Your Application Within 48 Hours

After you have reorganized your resume for the new job interview, create a short introductory letter that states why you are interested in the position. Let the hiring manager see that you are truly interested in helping the company to succeed. You must act very fast and ensure that you are one of the first people to send in your application and resume. If you don’t receive a reply from the company within 48 hours, make sure you make a phone call and ask to speak with the person in charge of the hiring process. This will make you stand out and you will most likely get noticed and called for the interview.
